The objective of the present study was to ascertain the efficacy of group cognitive behavioral training in facilitating emotion management and self-esteem in single-parent female students with social anxiety. A quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design was employed, with a control group, to select 40 single-parent female students from girls' high schools in Behshahr (a city in Iran). The students were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The data were collected using the Contingencies of the Affective Control Scale (ACS), and the Contingencies of Self-Worth Scale (CSWS). The experimental group underwent group cognitive behavioral training over the course of eight 90-minute sessions, while the control group did not receive any intervention. The analysis of covariance demonstrated a statistically significant difference in emotion management and self-esteem between the experimental and control group participants (P < 0.001). The findings suggest that the group cognitive behavioral training may be effective in enhancing the emotional management and self-esteem of single-parent female students, thereby preventing behavioral issues and social harms in this demographic.
