The objective of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of mindful parenting training on cognitive emotion regulation in mothers of children aged 5 to 10 years. The research design was quasi-experimental, employing a pretest-posttest model with a control group and a two-month follow-up. The statistical population of the study consisted of mothers of children aged 5 to 10 years from one of the districts of Mashhad city. A total of 40 mothers were voluntarily selected and randomly assigned to either the experimental or control groups. Data collection was conducted using the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) and the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF). The experimental group received mindful parenting training over 10 sessions, while no intervention was provided for the control group. Repeated measures analysis of variance revealed that mindful parenting training was effective in increasing the use of adaptive strategies and reducing the use of maladaptive strategies for cognitive emotion regulation among mothers (P < 0.01). Based on the findings of this study, mindful parenting training enhances mothers' utilization of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Therefore, the results of this study are recommended for family educators, psychologists, and child and adolescent counselors.
